Birmingham, Ala. – The Sanders Trust, one of the nation’s leading healthcare real estate investment companies, announces the recent acquisition of a $29 million inpatient rehabilitation hospital (“hospital”) in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Built in 2016, the 60-bed hospital has historically been operated by Cobalt Rehabilitation until late 2019 when Curahealth of Dallas, Texas completed the acquisition of all Cobalt operations. The Sanders Trust has acquired the real estate, and the 65,345 square foot facility will continue to be operated by Curahealth / Cobalt on a long-term lease. The Sanders Trust is working with Curahealth / Cobalt to help develop new Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals in target markets across the country. The hospital serves a wide range of physical rehabilitation patients such as stroke, trauma, hip fracture, brain injuries, concussions, orthopedic, Parkinson’s disease as well as many other inpatient diagnoses.

This Class A hospital is located in the Mid-City neighborhood in New Orleans, an affluent area and central location to the region’s six major acute care hospitals. Its location is less than two miles from the new Louisiana State University and Veteran Administration hospitals that feature approximately 1,000 acute care beds.
