Birmingham, Ala. – The Sanders Trust, one of the nation’s leading healthcare real estate investment and development companies, is pleased to announce the construction completion of Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Fort Smith, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The Sanders Trust was selected as the developer to finance, construct, and own the 50-bed, 62,570 square foot hospital. Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, part of the Mercy Health System in St. Louis, and Kindred Healthcare have entered into a joint venture for the brand-new hospital in Fort Smith, with Kindred Healthcare managing the day-to-day operations. The new facility is located on Chad Colley Boulevard and sits on four acres of land donated by the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE). A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place last Friday and the hospital is expected to begin seeing its first patients on June 1.
This new location will feature all private rooms, a secured brain injury unit with private dining and therapy gym along with a number of other amenities. The rehabilitation hospital will also serve as a teaching site for students in ACHE’s School of Occupational Therapy and School of Physical Therapy.
“The Sanders Trust is proud to play a role in the opening of this state-of-the-art rehabilitation hospital,” stated Rance Sanders, President and CEO of The Sanders Trust. “We are always grateful to our partners for inviting us to help develop their vision for improving the delivery of first-class healthcare services to the community.”
The Sanders Trust worked with architectural firm Earl Swensson Associates out of Nashville, and general contractor McCarthy Construction, headquartered in St. Louis, to complete the project.
